THE BOOK: <\/strong>Imadaddin Nasimi’s poetry is a continuous search to go back to the “beginning of worlds and things”. In his compositions the “I” becomes a collective singular, a symbol of a humanity pursuing spiritual perfection, since man is a cornerstone of the universe and in him resides “the essence of God”. Beliefs that Nasimi always supported strongly and that he paid with his life: accused of blasphemy by the religious authorities he was horribly murdered. The volume collects some of the most beautiful lyrics of the medieval poet whose work, in addition to inspiring great Turkic poets such as the Azerbaijani compatriots Fuzuli and Khatai, has influenced Arab and Persian poetry. <\/p>\n

Imadaddin Nasimi<\/strong> Born in Shamakhi in 1369 and died in Aleppo in 1417, he was a great Azerbaijani poet and an eminent figure in the poetry and philosophical thought of the East. He was the founder of a school of philosophical poetry in the Azerbaijani language. Known mainly under the pseudonym Nasimi, he created a series of works in Azerbaijani, Persian and Arabic. His poetry, rooted in the social, political and cultural development of the countries of the Near and Middle East, is of such significance that in 1973 by UNESCO’s decision its 600th anniversary was celebrated all over the world and in Azerbaijan in 2018 it was the Nasimi Festival of Poetry, Arts and Spirituality was founded. <\/p>\n

Ramiz Mekhtiev <\/strong> Important Azerbaijani politician, intellectual and academic, author of more than one hundred publications in the geopolitical and philosophical fields. Head of the presidential administration from 1994 to 2019, he currently holds the position of president of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. <\/p>\n
